Our second day at the Fleming Meadows campground, by Done Pedro lake, was awesome! We sure came home with a sunburn that lasted for weeks but it was worth it! My favorite part was the lagoon. Me and Nick didn't even end up swimming in the actual lake, because the lagoon was perfect. No fear of getting bitten in the toes by a fish but still deep enough to dive in. Not that I am very good at diving anymore. As soon as my face is under water I feel like I am drowning. So weird how that has happened through the years. As a kid I used to test myself and dive over and over again to see how long I could stay under there.
Nick and Rebecca were the first people in!
Nick and Roman immediately started throwing Nick's hat around that Rebecca, and her friend that she brought along for the trip, would try to catch :)
Rebecca's friend, Roman, Rebecca, me and Nick :)
Adorable little David who LOOOVED swimming and for a two year old he was very good at it :D
Cute little family! :)
Heather and David :)
LOL it looks like my head has morphed into Nick's body xD
On our way to buy some food and ice cream to regain some energy after hours of swimming!
David and Heather C had just bought their own boat recently. Me and Nick got to go on the last ride of the day before they brought it back up on land to go home. We had such a blast driving around with David for about an hour :D
Putting some more gas in the boat before taking off again!
LOL his hair!!
Then it happened... we couldn't believe our eyes! We were SO close to shore. Literally seconds from slowing down and getting off the boat. On one of the last waves that we hit, the whole windshield on Nick's passenger side shattered and exploded into a thousand pieces :O We were all so shocked that we almost didn't say anything at first, lol. It was obviously unexpected. Nick could barely move since he had glass everywhere. In his mouth, on his chest, his belly, under his feet... and he was wearing flip flops so he couldn't put his feet down on the ground. Even his hat was full of it. We were all so thankful that he had worn sunglasses when it happened. I don't even want to think about how he would have been hurting if he hadn't. Ugh. And of course it was Nick of all people who had this terrible luck. We mostly laugh at it at this point, about how it's always Nick that has these weird accidents and things happening to him. I mean, he had ankle surgery 2½ weeks ago and he has already had a heavy scale dropped on it and he has fallen down while trying to jump into the house. It's funny in a way and at the same time I just feel horrible for him. It's not fun feeling like you should walk around with bubble wrap around you 24/7. And this incident was no one's fault, just bad luck! So we headed back to shore, not totally certain of what to do. We managed to get Nick out of there so that he could jump into the water and wash off the glass. Although he still had glass coming out of his skin for several days. Plus a really bad sunburn.. ouch!
There was a ton of glass in the boat! We felt so bad for Heather C and David who had to clean it all up later when they got home.
Nick felt better when everyone else came back to get the boat on land and he got a cuddle from little David :) All I heard from Nick this whole weekend was "I want a kid" haha! David truly is so adorable. We are lucky if we get a kid that is even half this charming. If we could choose we would easily have children right now, but we want our own place and a better income first.
Dippin' those toes!
Heater and little David
It was pretty sad saying good bye to everyone, even though we were all driving in the same direction haha! We had such a great time but we also could not wait to go back home to shower and sleep in our own beds. It had been an adventurous day to say the least xD
Made a stop at a 50's style Taco Bell in Modesto :) trying to stay awake for the rest of our journey!
There was this perfect moment that we felt lucky to witness. On our right side was the sun going down and on the left was the moon looking beautifully white on a pink/purple sky. It was pretty amazing to see them both at the same time.
