Pool overflow & Good bye Garden

We have had quite the summer weather here! Most of the time we wake up twisting and turning in bed because our room is way too hot. Nick's bedroom wasn't a part of the house when it was built. And whoever put it together did something wrong because we barely get any AC in here. The only time our warm bedroom is helpful is during winter time xD
It has been nice to have a pool in the backyard that we can cool off in. I freaking hated this thing at first! It's takes up too much space and was placed under our avocado tree... which is probably the dumbest idea in the world, since avocado leaves (and later avocados) keep falling into it. It gets dirty every day. It deflates very often so we constantly have to make sure it has enough air in it. And the place where it was put is leaning a bit so one day when I noticed that the pool was deflated to the point where the water almost came pouring out, so I opened the "lid" to pump it up again... what happens? The water in the pool literally starts pouring out to the point where the whole backyard is full of water. It happened so fast. Within seconds the pool is half empty!! I am alone since the guys are at work, so I stand in water up to my ankles cursing and sweating, trying to inflate the pool before all of the water is lost. The cats run away as fast as they can while I slip and slide with that damn pump while injuring my finger in the process because it got squished. Boy was I mad. I seriously just wanted to poke a hole in it and pretend like it was an accident just to get rid of it. But since then nothing has luckily gone wrong, haha! It's very nice to swim and play in the pool now. Watching Nick splash and have fun in the pool is one of my favorite things!
We are coming to the end of our harvest season as I like to call it! It's been so much fun following the process of the food growing in our garden, ever since March. But it takes SO much energy watering every day and cleaning out weeds once in a while. Lately I have honestly gotten sick and tired of it. Some things died, some things never grew and some things got eaten. But we have definitely learned what we are going to plant next year! We will always plant peppers because Nick loves them. The peas got eaten by snails but they were delicious for as long as they lasted! I don't think I want to grow strawberries again. It was just too much trouble for them to get eaten by ants. The basil and chives are nice to have out there but we don't use it for cooking as much as we had thought. But the potatoes were a success, as was the corn! I am excited about our tomato plant that is absolutely HUGE! I mean, this thing is taller and wider than me... I was worried that it was just going to keep on growing and never have any tomatoes... but now we have ten! I am excited to see how they taste. After our last little crop is gone, we are going to throw some flower seeds in there instead and just leave it be.

We are keeping the strawberries a little longer since new ones are popping up! But in total I think we have only eaten about 6 of them since they keep getting eaten by ants. This year was the trial run though and we have learned a lot! We just can't afford buying certain things to prevent ants, snails etc.
Our tomatoes are much bigger than this now - I love it! Can't wait for them to turn red!!
Some of our corn died when it got broken off by accident by we managed to get five corn on the cob to eat. OMG it was delicious!! Throw some butter and spices on there and it's a winner. This was probably the yummiest thing that we grew this year so we are definitely proud!
We have started filming some episodes for our project that we are working on. It's too early for me to talk about it on the blog. But I got some cool pictures in the process ;) I really enjoy working on this with Nick because we make a great team. Charlie, Snickers and Reese wanted to hang out with us while filming so of course they could :)
