In the beginning of July I had planned a day on Sunset beach for us and our friends! Our plans didn't work out as well as I had hoped. Many had to cancel in the last minute or had totally forgotten about this trip :P oh well. And when Heather and Roman reached Sunset beach before us, the parking was full! Luckily our bad luck turned around :) We met up at Rio del Mar beach instead. I had never been there but it was beautiful! We drove there with Jon. And Roman's mother and sisters joined in on the fun! So we had a good size group after all :)

Silly heads!

Heather and Roman's wonderful daughter watching the Orcas :) I was BEYOND thrilled when I got to see Orcas in the wild for the first time in my life. I spent so much time by the water with my camera. I wish I could have zoomed out even further to get good pictures. But instead I had to zoom in on my laptop afterwards to print screen decent photos of the whales. I don't even care that the quality sucks, because this was a huge moment for me <3 I hate seeing any kind of animal behind a cage no matter if it's just a tiny fish. I would never even consider going to Sea World. So waiting for this moment did build up the excitement much more and made it very special. It feels better in my stomach if I know that the animal is in the wild where it belongs. And that I am not paying some money hungry idiots to keep animals behind cages.

A very blurry Orca ;) <3 We saw two of them!

Then all of a sudden a giant humpback whale showed up!! It swam along the beach for a long time, jumping up once in a while. It was so majestic and magical to witness. Maybe I am just "the new girl" still because I was the only one in our group who stood there gazing with my jaw dropped to the ground. Everyone else stayed by our little spot further away. But I just had to get as close to the whales as possible. I was drawn to them. One of my biggest dreams has always been to go whale watching and this made it even more urgent. Nick joined me on the beach after a while. He really wants to go whale watching now too :)

When your shoes and socks gets soaked... ;)

And your husband is sweet enough to take them off for you... xD

Nick got a nasty surprise when the guys poured all kinds of interesting stuff in this clothes xD haha

It was quite cold that day, but with a sweater on and music in the background, we had a very cozy time!

One of the best feelings in the world... digging your feet into soft, warm sand...

I was surprised about how dark it got in the evening. I thought for sure that a storm would sweep us away.

I walked away for a while to take pictures of this beautiful part of the beach. It was just mind blowing to watch the sunset there.

Accidental close up photos turned out pretty cute ;)

When the sun set it got a little too cold so we got the fire started!

The girls wanted Nick to go with them and play for a while :) He did it despite having just injured his toe pretty bad and being in a lot of pain. But for little kids he always sucks it up and plays with them if they ask :)

Me and Nick walked to a restaurant nearby to eat dinner. But that money was such a waste. Boring food and boring place. We felt better when we walked back to the fire and joined the crew that had formed while we were away. Very nice people :) But because we were sandy, cold, wet, tired and Nick's toe was injured (after foot wrestling in the sand with Jon) we decided to go home. Tired but happy :)
