Dippin' our toes in Lake Camanche

This weekend me and Nick went on a 3 hour long road trip to Lake Camanche. It's located near Sacramento so we had an intense but beautiful car ride ahead of us. Nick was supposed to work on Friday and then we would go camping on Saturday. But after almost no sleep at all that night and not feeling well, he ended up calling in sick to work. The camping site was actually booked from Friday since there was a two night minimum. So we decided to get this long road trip over and done with and left that same night instead. Heather and Roman were heading up at the same time, so it all worked out in the end :)

This camping site was honestly nothing like we had imagined it. At first we weren't sure if we would enjoy it or not. The check-in took half an hour which was absolutely ridiculous and then we had to set up our tents in complete darkness. But once that was done, we could take it all in. It was actually quite nice! The camping area was huge and it was like living in a neighborhood, just that no one had houses. We all just had property that we put up tents on instead ;) There were lots of families with children there but everyone were respectful of each other and tried to keep it down late at night. One guy even came by to ask us if we needed help, while we huffed and puffed our way through setting up our tents.

That first night was spent barbecuing and just catching up with our good friends. We live about 45 minutes away from each other, so we rarely get this much time to hang out. Me and Heather struggled through the first night while Nick and Roman fell asleep within seconds. Us girls laid there texting each other, Heather was worried about bears and I was worried about how my yoga mat did absolutely nothing to support my back xD I felt like I was laying on concrete. Needless to say, us girls were not happy when the camping woke up at 7:30 am and little kids started running around screaming. Yet it was actually quite nice to start my day early for once. Nick works late nights so our schedules are normally upside down.

I decided that my outfit of the day needed to be as "geeky camping" as possible ;) so I threw on my colorful bandana, jeans shorts and my new Golden Girls T-shirt!!

After breakfast we checked out the store and bought ourselves some ice cream. Photos by: Heather

My wonderful man <3

Time to blow up our floaties! We bought our donuts with sprinkles right before the trip. We also got an air pump for the car so we didn't have to do it manually. I swear, that pump was the greatest investment of the whole trip. Just 20 dollars! It will both pump up and deflate your floaties and mattress if you have one for your tent.

This lake was gorgeous and it was wrapped around the whole campground. So you could jump into the water pretty much wherever. We had such a fun time swimming, I didn't want to get out! It's been two years since I went camping the last time and swam outdoors. The water was wonderful and warm from the sun. Everyone else had to wait for me on the beach until I gave in and got out of the water ;) Lake photo by: Heather
